Richmond High School in collaboration with Chase Basketball are happy to announce that registrations for the 2025 return of the Richmond High School Basketball Academy are now open!
The Basketball Academy is an extra-curricular training program designed to enhance the basketball skills of athletes across all skill levels. Athletes will be assessed and divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels ensuring the ongoing enjoyment, progression, and development of every individual. The Richmond High School Basketball Academy will be conducted before school on two mornings applicable to students’ academy grouping, for 90 minutes per session.
Whilst the main focus of the sessions will be on improving basketball skills, coaches will work with athletes to develop fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and a strong work ethic.
Students will be provided with expert tuition with elite coaches and included as part of the Basketball Academy will be a uniform (singlet & shorts) and a sports bag.
Below you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Richmond High Basketball Academy.
The Academy provides interested students the opportunity to pursue their chosen sport of basketball in parallel with their school subject selections. Students will undertake intensive basketball tuition through the course of their school enrolment, having access to the highest quality coaches, mentors, and teachers that the program can provide.
Participation in the Richmond High School Basketball Academy develops a discipline and commitment that works on individual resilience, beneficial in sport and in life. Richmond High School Basketball Academy coaches will promote aspects of leadership, tolerance, and humility, which will form the cornerstones for overall student growth and progression.
The Richmond High School Basketball Academy is open to interested students of all skill levels, is a fee for service program and will offer a mentoring and health/wellbeing component, that ensures a rounded and inclusive sporting pursuit.
All students who enrol at Richmond High School are welcome to place an application for inclusion in the Basketball Academy.
The academy will draw on the highest quality, committed, verified and qualified coaches to be involved in the annual program. The Basketball Academy will reflect the coaching principles of the head coaching staff and the core philosophies of the school: curiosity, creativity, character, and challenge.
All students who enrol at Richmond High School are welcome to place an application for inclusion in the Basketball Academy.
All participating students will be categorized into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels and the Academy curriculum will be customised to suit these groups.
Athletes may elect to participate in girls only/gender diverse groups (minimum numbers required)
Players can move from one level of the academy to another at the discretion of the coaching staff.
The Basketball Academy Program will run for 32 weeks per school year (2 x 1.5hr sessions per week)
The cost of the program is $1695 per annum for new students, including a uniform kit and administrative fees, and $1600 per annum for existing academy players, which may be paid in full or via instalments.
